Uwell Caliburn G3 Kit Review:A Professional-Level Enhancement
It's that time again, and this time, we're looking at the Caliburn G3. The original Caliburn set the standard for pod kits as we know them today, and with every new iteration, it's gotten sleeker and more refined. The Caliburn G3 continues this trend without exception. It brings some upgrades in certain areas, but do its features still hold up? That's the real question. With that out of the way, I've got plenty to say about the G3. Keep reading to find out why.
What Makes Up The Uwell Caliburn G3 Kit?
The Uwell Caliburn G3 kit is an adjustable pod device that includes two Caliburn G3 pods. It features a convenient side-fill design, supporting both MTL (mouth-to-lung) and RDTL (restricted direct-to-lung) vaping styles. With a built-in 900mAh battery, adjustable wattage from 5 to 25W, a sleek OLED screen, and integrated coils, it delivers an exceptional experience in flavor and vapor production.
Refined And Minimalistic Design With A Touch of Elegance
The G3 offers a sleek and understated look, especially with its slightly matte aluminum alloy body. On the front, there's a square, textured fire button. Just below the fire button, almost near the bottom, is a small OLED display located beneath the Caliburn G3 logo.
On the back of the device, you'll find the Uwell logo, while the top features a transparent e-liquid viewing window to help you easily monitor your liquid levels. The USB-C port is at the bottom, and on both sides of the device, there are small airflow inlet holes. Aside from these features, the design remains clean and minimal, giving the G3 a great overall appearance and feel.
The Unique Highlights Of The Uwell Caliburn G3
Pods
The G3 comes with two Uwell Caliburn G3 pods: a 0.6Ω pod pre-installed in the device and an MTL 0.9Ω pod sealed in a separate bag. The side-fill 2.5ml pods offer a larger capacity and a durable structure. Refilling is simple, with a well-sized fill port and a secure magnetic lock once the pod is inserted.
The 0.6Ω mesh pod is designed for RDTL vaping, while the 0.9Ω mesh pod is suited for MTL vaping. When using the 0.6Ω pod, the G3 automatically sets the wattage to 25W, providing smooth airflow and dense vapor. With the 0.9Ω pod, it adjusts to 15W, delivering a slightly lower vapor output.
0.96″ OLED Display
The new 0.96″ OLED screen on the G3 is packed with information. At a glance, it shows your battery level, current wattage, coil resistance, firing mode, puff count, and vaping duration. It also displays charging progress and error messages, such as atomizer short or low battery alerts. While vaping, the interface tracks and displays the length of each puff, giving you real-time feedback on your session.
Two fixed airflow options
It kept the airflow system simple while still giving you full control. The device features dual-sided airflow, with each pod offering two static airflow options that can be switched by rotating the pod 180° inside the battery. Air flows up through the channels into the bottom of the pod, with the 0.6Ω pod having a larger channel than the 0.9Ω pod.
In terms of airflow restriction, the larger channel provides a restricted direct lung (RDL) experience, while the smaller channel allows for a looser mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw or a tighter restricted direct lung hit.
Non-removable built-in coils
Unlike the previous cross-compatible coil cartridges, the Caliburn G3 uses integrated non-removable coils with 0.6Ω and 0.9Ω resistance. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques like ultrasonic welding, these fixed coil pods offer improved leak resistance compared to earlier models. Additionally, the coils are built to last, providing great flavor from your e-liquid throughout their lifespan.
How Do You Operate The Buttons On The Caliburn G3?
- To lock or unlock the button on the Caliburn G3, press the fire button twice. This operation enables both button activation and auto-draw.
- To turn the device on or off, click the button 5 times.
- To adjust the wattage, press the button 3 times. The wattage option you select will blink 3 times, and then you can cycle through the available wattage settings by pressing the button again.
- To reset the puff counter, press the button 4 times. The puff counter will also automatically reset once it reaches a certain value.
In What Situations Does The G3 Provide Haptic Feedback?
The G3 device provides haptic feedback—a vibration feature that notifies the user in certain situations. It vibrates when the battery is low when you plug it in, when charging is complete, and when the pod is replaced. This feature is especially helpful when the battery is low, and you aren't actively checking the screen.
How Do You Top Up The Device With E-Liquid?
On one side of the pod tank, there's a large filling port with a silicone cover marked by an arrow. Lift the cover to access the port. When filling the pod, make sure to leave a small gap for air. Before using the pod, it's recommended to let it sit for at least 30 minutes for better performance. If you fill the pod, you might hear a gurgling sound during the first two or three puffs.
When Is The Right Time To Replace My Caliburn G3 Pod?
The device uses 0.6Ω and 0.9Ω mesh pods, which can affect the duration of use. Each pod typically lasts around a week.
You should consider replacing the pod if you notice the following signs: loss of flavor, coil oversaturation, or if the e-liquid changes color, as this may indicate that the coil is partially burnt.
How Much Time Is Needed To Charge The Caliburn G3 Fully?
The Caliburn G3, equipped with a 900mAh battery, charges via a USB-C port at a 2-amp rate. It takes around 45 minutes to reach a full charge.
The battery display is divided into five bars on the screen:
1 bar: 0-20%
2 bars: 20-40%
3 bars: 40-60%
4 bars: 60-80%
5 bars: 80-100%
Closing Thoughts
The UWELL Caliburn G3 adds some pro-level features while taking a step back compared to other series, making the device more understated in operation. It removes the replaceable coils found in previous G-series models but improves aspects such as the battery, pod, and the addition of an OLED display. While its design isn't groundbreaking, everything it does is executed exceptionally well. I'm a fan, but what about you? Which aspect of the G3 do you attention the most?
